Sport News

Our Huntingtower Senior Summer Sport teams have performed exceptionally well as a whole this season. Out of the 16 EISM teams, 11 have Finals chances with one round to go. We haven't ever been in this position before. The students have been training well and during games, they have been focussed, listening to instructions and coaches' feedback, and playing with 100% effort for the entire matches. Well done, everyone!
The last training session will be on Monday 20 March if your team is in the Finals.

The 'Active for Athletics' sessions will continue in Period 6 on Mondays from 20 and 27 March. These sessions are designed for students in Years 8 – 12, although Year 7's are welcome to join in if they so wish. Track and Field event training will be held on the Snowden Oval (our jogging track) and at our Jumps pit. Some specialist coaches will be coming too.

Early Morning Athletics at Bill Stewart Athletics Track (BSAT) Burwood Hwy, Burwood East (Mel 62 C7)

Wednesdays 6.45am – 7.45am

• 15 March

• 22 march

• 26 April (EISM Squad)

Important: We ask that parents drop off students at the track, and then at the end of the session, students will be transported back to school by a Driver Buslines bus in time for Period 1. Students must book their return seat to school after the early morning trainings by emailing Ms Savage by the Monday prior to the training session. We want to make sure that there are sufficient seats for everyone wanting to participate. Parents, please note that the students are not supervised on this short journey to school, which is similar to other schools' daily bus journeys.

A reminder to all students that you must wear the correct HT PE/Sport socks – white with a navy and pale blue stripe for PE and Sport except where football socks are required for AFL, soccer and hockey. Please be sure that you have the correct socks.
We have now had two fantastic carnivals at MSAC – the House Swimming Carnival and the EISM Division 1 Carnival. Much success was experienced at both events with numerous PB's (personal best times), especially the Year 7's, and several records being achieved. Congratulations to Mather House which has now won six consecutive House Carnivals. The Huntingtower Swimming Team brought home the 9th consecutive Division 1 trophy. The U14 Girls, U15 Girls and Boys and Open Boys won their Age Divisions, and again, we won both the Boys and Girls Aggregate Trophies too. All the relay teams, both in the Medley and the Freestyle events, finished either 1st, 2nd or 3rd. This consistency of performance is outstanding and a credit to all involved. Thank you to our Coaches, Ms Helen Aden, Mr Brendan Powell and Mr Wes Smith for their preparation and guidance of our swimmers. Thank you also to our swimming parents for your ongoing support of your children and the program. Special thanks to the parents who assisted with the Swimmers luncheon – a very important part of the day's preparation – Mr Alex Chau, Mrs Wendy Bentley, Mrs Georgie Freeman, Mrs Alison Clark and Mrs Liz McNeary.
