2016 ARTS IN THE ROUND

Arts in the Round was a wonderful Arts Festival held last Sunday in place of the annual Huntingtower Camerata Gala Concert whilst there is no PAC available. The Arts Festival was a huge success featuring all performing and visual arts (music, art, drama, poetry, media, Indonesian poetry and dance and visual communication) and an archive display was set up.

The afternoon also incorporated the Official Opening of the Middle Years' Centre by MP Julia Banks and beautiful music was provided by the String Orchestra, Senior Chamber Choir and the Folk Ensemble.

Other concerts during the afternoon featured wonderful choirs, orchestras, chamber choirs and concert band from the Middle School, Junior School and Senior School. Hearty congratulations and enormous thanks to the 400 musicians who performed so amazingly well especially in the wild weather conditions and also to the enthusiastic audience who braved the wild weather and gave enormous support to the young musicians.

Hearty congratulations also to all the performers and artists in the other artistic fields and thank-you to the many people who put so much time into the organization of it all and to all the staff who helped on the day. Special thanks also to Mrs Lisa Sutton, Mrs Anne Wilson, Mrs Jan Tyquin and Mr Tony Hill for giving enormous support especially to the music side the Festival.

HEARTY CONGRATULATIONS AND SINCERE THANKS TO...

All the students who performed at various recitals during the recent holidays to help prepare for VCE and AMEB exams. Most of the students gave 2 recitals and they worked extremely hard on technical and musical challenges and undertook another huge challenge of performing the entire 30 minute recital from memory.

Rachel Ko (Year 9) who received the Certificate of Performance with Distinction at the recent AMEB exams – a wonderful result!

Danny Hunter (Year 1) who received High Distinction at the recent AMEB exams – another wonderful result.

The Israeli Jerusalem Chamber Orchestra who gave an amazing Open Rehearsal which some of our Huntingtower Community were very privileged to be able to attend – what a fabulous experience.

The Citizenship Ensemble who once again performed beautifully in two special and moving Citizenship Ceremonies. Evie Hamer-Smith (Year 4) and Emi Tang-Yamaoka (Year 3) joined Yohei Tang-Yamaoka (Year 8) to accompany the ensemble and the sound blended sonorously in the glorious acoustic of Robert Blackwood Hall.
