Hearty congratulations and sincere thanks must be given to the 200 students who participated in the Waverley Eisteddfod. The high quality of music making and the exceptional standard achieved by every student is amazing. Hours of hard work and commitment have been given by all students and their individual and combined dedication is thoroughly appreciated.
On Saturday 20 August 150 Huntingtower instrumentalists performed magnificently in the Ensemble sections. Unfortunately, very large groups were unable to perform this year (no PAC available) but as many students as possible performed in smaller ensembles.
On Monday 22 August the Huntingtower Senior Chamber Choir and Middle School Chamber Choir both sang superbly in the Secondary Chamber Choir section. Hearty congratulations and sincere gratitude to Mrs Sutton, Rhianwen Bramble and the choristers for their thorough and enthusiastic preparation.

Middle School Chamber Choir
Year 7/8 Choir
Middle School Orchestra
Junior Chamber Choir
Official Opening of the Middle Years Centre
Senior Chamber Choir
All members of these groups will be required.
Please put the date (9 October at 2pm) in your diary now and come along for a FANTASTIC TIME!
Last Friday we were extremely privileged to have four wonderful musicians from the MSO come to our Senior Orchestra rehearsal. They gave specialised tutorials with small sections of the orchestra and then came and performed with the full Senior Orchestra. What a magnificent opportunity for our musicians to work so closely with these world class players!
The MSO players all volunteered to come as part of the MSO Connect Programme and they were four of our fantastic Huntingtower parents (of past students now!) – Prudence Davis and Jeffrey Crellin (parents of Max and Martin) and Julie and Geoffrey Payne (parents of Lauren and Grace). We are extremely grateful for this fantastic opportunity!
HEARTY CONGRATULATIONS TO:
- The Junior Chamber Choir who performed recently at the IPSHA Choral Festival at the Melbourne Town Hall. The Chamber Choir sang superbly in the lovely acoustics of the Town Hall and despite being one of the smallest choirs our young singers projected a beautiful, clear, cantabile sound and delighted the extremely large audience. Sincere thanks and hearty congratulations to Mrs Anne Wilson for her wonderful enthusiasm and expertise.
- Mia Rowland who received 3rd prize in the Drumtek Up and Coming Drummer Competition – an amazing achievement!
- All the students who performed so well in the Solo sections of the Waverley Eisteddfod. The following outstanding results were achieved:
18 y and under String Solo
Honourable Mention – Kiara Kim
16 y and under Woodwind/Brass Solo
2nd prize – Eddie Chen
12 y and under String Solo
Honourable Mention – Aaron Zhang
10 y and under Piano Solo
2nd prize – Ethan Zheng
ARE YOU GETTING MARRIED, HAVING A 50TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY PARTY OR ORGANISING A BUSINESS DINNER?
Huntingtower musicians would be very willing to provide a small (or large) ensemble to play beautiful music in a wide variety of styles at any occasion. They have a very comprehensive "gig"folder that includes many special requests. A small fee would be charged as fundraising for the Huntingtower Music Department.
