Thought for the week:
"You are only aware of the reality you choose to observe."
This week we say farewell to our Year 12 class of 2018 as they head off for a period of study followed by their final exams. We wish them all success, knowing that all the hard work they have put in this year will pay off.
We congratulate our Junior School Tournament of Minds Team on representing Huntingtower in the World Finals which were held in Darwin. Although they did not bring home a medal, we are so proud of them. Thank you to Mrs Susan Swan and Ms Sarah Cummins for supporting them on this journey.
The "Arts in the Round" event held last Sunday was a wonderful celebration and exhibition of Visual and Performing Arts, Music Performance, Public Speaking, Language and Drama. Congratulations to all the students involved and grateful thanks to the team of teachers involved in preparing students, displays and performances. It was wonderful to see so many parents and to use all the aspects of our new Performing Arts Centre. Grateful thanks to the Parents and Friends Committee and helpers who provided afternoon tea for hundreds of people and to all the support staff who assisted behind the scenes.
It was wonderful to see so many past students here at the HOSA Sports Day where our school sports teams competed with the old students. After an action packed afternoon, the Callaway Cup was shared by HOSA and the Students, with each of them winning 5 of their matches. Thank you to Ms Mel Beal who coordinated the HOSA teams and to Ms Carly Buhagiar who coordinated the school teams.
We have had some queries regarding the Term Dates for 2019. After reviewing these, we have decided to stay with our published dates. These dates are available on our School Calendar. Some Independent Schools are commencing Term 3 a week earlier than us and other schools are having the same dates as we are. The reason I chose our dates, is to give us four Terms of approximately the same length. Students find the longer terms hard to deal with and our chosen dates give us Terms of 9 weeks' equal duration.
With the HT Fete almost upon us, I would like to encourage you all to consider how you will be able to support the school Fete this year. We always have aneed for prizes, items for the Silent Auction, donations of foodstuff, donations of old items no longer needed at home. Please drop any items off at school and if your company is willing to sponsor a ride or activity we would love to hear from you. You should be approached by your Fete Rep to assist in some way either before (set-up), during or after (pack-up) the Fete. I look forward to seeing you all there. It is always a fun day. Thank you for your support and a BIG thank you to the Fete Committee and the P & F.
